It wasn't when you tried, but it will be once it's homologated.

RX is the first production bike for street use. RS was very limited edition $40K top-shelf more-or-less show bike. The RR is the race replica.

Nope!!! The rs is sold as a production motorcycle with lights as well!!! Only difference in new bike is it doesn't have the suspension!

I thought the SV was in the 350 range race ready? I guess not. My bike is probably right at about 400 race-ready, but I'm not entirely sure.

It's been years since I weighed mine, but I recall it tipping ~415lbs with a half tank. Dry weight (without oil or antifreeze maybe) is a little over 360lbs. May be off a bit.

Sorry to derail this super focused thread!

The RS was AMA homologated. It has more than just suspension that's different from the RX. Bodywork, exhaust, electronics, clutch, some chassis parts like the triple clamp and rear sets, and so on are all different.

I'm sure there's more, and when I see an RX in person, I'll know...

"As an example of how the distribution of mass is just as crucial as the mass itself, during our test of Buell's XB9R Firebolt ("Occam's Razor," Oct. '02), we found that, while the Buell's front-wheel assembly was 4.5 pounds lighter than that of a Yamaha YZF-R6, their MoIs were identical-the huge weight savings is offset by the Buell's larger single disc and heavier rim area."

granted, this was from '02, I wonder how an 1190 wheel/brake compares to a more recent GSXR/R6/CBR wheel/brake package?

If I may offer an idiot's opinion... The ZTL brakes work ok for the aggressive street rider and occasional trackday person. Anymore than that and they overheat and warp rotors ( which are fairly cheap) More so I think the lighter weight helps Buells meet their un-sprung weight, mass centralization and steep head angel goals while still giving the same feel as any bike without being twitchy.( MoI) I thought perhaps watching the 8 pistons in action in the AMA that they had solved the overheating and warping issues with the new slotted rotor and cooling ducts until I saw This....

Everytime I rode te ebr I had new complete brake system. EVEREYTIME..... Practice, race, roll around the pits...... It is a sweet bike for sure! And I'm glad there is a more affordable bike available!
Now I'm not so sure. I don't like the idea of rotors being a consumable especially when they work only as well as some, and not as well as others of more conventional design. Must remember to wheel heat sink trick. viva la the Buell design spirit though.
