How about letting riders register for a whole year of Friday practice and giving these 20 bucks off each event. Charging the credit card one or two weeks prior to the event.
Like the cmra did this year, sadly without a discount.

$80 bucks 6 laps.
Loved it.
We want to make it easy on our customers, offer a great product, at a fair price.
$80.00 for 6 laps is only a good deal in a CMRA sprint race.
I'm not sure if you just rode slow, or missed a session. :-)
Peyton,
We have sustained it for 13 years and charge less now than in 2001. Ride Smart offers a discount to CMRA racers and charges "full" price to everyone else. Not my way of marketing or running my business. We sponsor 4 Expert sprint racers, 2 novice racers, 3 Big Bike Endurance teams, not to mention our 10 year LSTD Big Bike Endurance team or the 2 LSTD sponsored mini teams, sponsored a sprint class, big bike endurance purses and taught the CMRA school for free for 9 years. If you want a deal or a trophy on a track day we are not the group. Ride Smart seems to always have events the weekend before our Friday and maybe they will let you leave the grid in Cowboy boots.
I'm not going to compare RS and LSTD. Last time I did an L2 RS event there were 50 bikes on that grid, plus control and instructors. Ive got no problems with that now, but a couple of years ago that was sketchy for me. Point being volume is the key to low prices, and like Steve said, with soft numbers he's got to plan accordingly. It's a business after all, and I know how tough business can be with customers that demand the cheapest price, the fastest service, and all on the timeline that best suits them. And top that off with customers that tend to be a tad aggressive on practice days, red flags are going to fly.
