Ambulance question with LSTD (Friday practice)

this prefaces my post perfectly.
I was entering the chicane right as the rider came to a rest in the track and his bike also in the track. I put my hand up and slowed to enter the pits as i knew it was going to be a red flag. Several riders came flying by and up onto the banking at a proximity to the downed rider that made me uncomfortable for his safety. This was the expert group. You guys should know better. At the very least go to the riders meeting, they will explain little things like what to do in case of an on track emergency. I was disappointed I had to miss most of my half day as well but I was very happy to be able to race Sunday. Thanks Steve I had a blast.

I may have been one of those riders that passed you. Myself and another rider (I do not know who he is) were catching approximately four motorcycles ahead of us in the chicane. We COULD NOT see past the riders to know there was a wreck ahead of us before anyone put there hand up. I saw only ONE rider of the four put his hand up and the others cut across the track to get to pit without signaling. I had to split two riders and almost had another wreck on our hands because they exited from the right hand side of the track without signaling. By the time I saw the wreck (and some parts on the track) it was too late to safely exit to pit road and I had to do another lap along with one other rider. There was a third rider that blew past the both of us like we were sitting still well after we were on the straight with our hands up signaling in anticipation of a red flag. Remember, just because you can see the downed rider from your vantage point, it doesn't mean the riders behind you can. And with only one person signaling to exit to pit it seemed like a normal lap until a few seconds later.

Anyone who thinks there is a ton of money to be made doing trackdays should start up a trackday organization and do it. It's easy. Hire lots of corner workers, instructors, grid personnel, and rent lots and lots of ambulances and a front loader to clear the track quickly of all the wrecked bikes so nobody misses a lap. You can also have a chopper standing by just in case transport is needed. You could charge $80 per rider and give 20% off to pre-registered riders, cmra, wera, motogp and anyone else. If it's so easy to follow all the business plans laid out in this thread you folks would be stupid not to do it. Easy money.

No kidding, mitch! I don't know a lot of you that are talking garbage. But I know for a fact, you don't know mac or you wouldn't spew venom. And when you insult him, I think you insult everyone that works for him and everyone he's helped make their racing easier over the years. and the list is long. im not sure why peyton has such a boner for mac but it seems like his only agenda is to expose him as the villain he isn't. I wish he'd pick up a bigger brush and start painting with broader strokes. I see nothing he's stated that would make anyone want to join our club. soon, everything he says will become totally meaningless, if it hasn't already. there are some good points here but a lot of ya'll need to become more familiar with lstd and the track days business before you criticize so terribly. and try to be a little more sensible on the track..its practice!

I can understand people's frustrations without getting much tracktime. It is valid to ask why and what can be done. It is NOT valid to keep whining and borderline personal-attacking just because you don't like the answer. Again, it's cool to ask and complain, but keep it constructive, and realize you may not like the answer.

What's interesting, is that many of them are fairly new, and several have self identified as cheap. So, with little knowledge, and a stated goal to stay as cheap as possible, they still want higher services. Guess what? More service costs more. Trying to remain constructive, I'll refrain from saying "Ante up or Shut up", even if one might validly feel that way too.

Steve and LSTD in general do a great job. The primary problem is too many people riding over their heads, and that is where some of the ire should be directed. LSTD is just more convenient to lash out at. The ambulance shortage is secondary. While I too think it should be addressed if at all possible (I did hear several people, who are the types of guys who are pretty reasonable and glad to spend money on their sport, say they don't care to return) I think we ultimately have to accept the business owners' decision. They are the ones with the big picture and the costs and the actual INFORMATION.

Even though I spend a lot more time with another org, all of LSTD does a good job, and I'm glad to be at some of their events, and I really think there are some uninformed, unreasonable, unmannered people chiming in. I hope they use winter to chill rather than lather up and foam.
(again, not all of you, but jeez...)

As I stated previously it is hard to dial in services when 50 riders pre register. I can assure everyone here that the ambulance issue in 2014 will be a mute point. Let's talk about machine requirements or class structure for 2014.
