well, as many know, I about mechanically un-inclined as one could be.. trying to upgrade my air intake... but something just isn't right.
Is this tube facing backwards the air intake?
and this the "air box" (as in box that the air filter resides)?
and if that is correct, why is oil dripping out of there when I loosen the screws... if not, what is it?

That is the air box. I just removed mine today; however, I'm letting Ryan Andrews do the mod since it requires some crafting to use the K&N filter without it.

ya, I finally figured that out... man, there was a bit of oil in the bottom of the airbox. I almost have everything connected... almost.

I took all that stuff off.
You can then turn the intake around ( requires some minor wire/ cable re-routing) and the K&n fits right on. You can fit the K&n without turning the intake around but it doesn't look as cool! No performance advantage either way as best I can tell.
Put brake lines on mine last week... Like you need brakes......
