...blah, blah, blah...If you can't be competitive, there is no point in doing it."

Others decide to bump to Expert and keep racing to see where it takes them.

Different strokes for different folks; neither action is necessarily wrong, just different paths to take.

If you're a back marker as a novice, you won't be able to stay behind the expert pack but maybe half a lap.

What on earth are you going to learn turning laps all by your self? Or are you hoping to learn something from the top experts when they lap you and push you out of their way as they come through?

I don't know if that's the actual case with Proler or not. He is the one that said he is always at the back, not me.

I am not judging Proler, and I didn't mean it as a jab. I honestly don't understand the thought process here.

I agree with Chris... Another question for debate is to the BOD or Walter for allowing the decision it a novice back marker to be moved up to Expert. This IMO poses a danger to not only the rider but to fellow racers on the track. lets be brutally honest also... No matter how nice someone is to your face, if people feel you don't belong on the track in their group or race, they make it known. By that I mean people will buzz by you extremely close, push you wide on corner entry, and in some cases make contact with you in hopes of instilling fear in you so you get off the track.

I don't totally disagree but at the same time by that logic then we should never run experts and novices in the same race wave start or not. Aren't Experts supposed to be good enough to get around a slower rider without incident? Shouldn't us lowly ole novices be able to look up to the Experts for advice and information to make us better so we can progress? This is club racing and while there are some very talented riders that can probably do some great things in the sport in future years, the majority of us are just having fun because we can. Intentionally bumping someone to prove a point while can be harmless can also just be a d*** move. That's all

Sound like we need to make sure Barry teaches the CW crew this year to look out for intentional infractions so the new 7.2 section can be applied. I don't think anyone wants that

Just go race and pass the guy if he is slower, if you can't get around him maybe you aren't what you think you are.

You made a valid point about experts having the experience to easily pass riders without incident. Although it's more of a concern that half the novice grid will catch up and have to make the passes as well, whereas they may lack the experience of passing without incident. Also I agree it would be a dick move to intentionally scare the **** out of someone because they feel the other person is in the wrong place... But it happens quite often. Lots of egos and plenty of secret agent *******s as well. I've been around the track and racing for 10 years now (plenty of other members that have been here longer, but on my account..) and that's one thing that never changes. Plenty of friendly smiles with bitter badmouthing behind closed doors. Lots of people secretly voicing their opinion on this subject and not saying anything because they don't want to offend anyone. That's how this came to my attention, at least 3 phone calls with "check out this thread, wtf were they thinking".

This is a dangerous sport... Why make it any more dangerous than it already is? For all parties involved.
