Yup, one experts lap time wouldn't have even put them on the podium for ULW GP novice. So my question is, how slow is too slow to be an expert? I know lap times aren't everything but surely there is a point when too slow is a problem.

I think you're referring to me here. I've turned maybe 15 laps total at MSRH l before the races on Sunday. Whatever I did in 2014 is insignificant because I was scared to even be back on a bike after my crash the season before. With that being said, I'm still not the slowest in the expert class. Just wait until TWS.

That is the problem we have, yes. We just have some fast *** novice riders and that is all there is to it.
I think the club has a good way of knowing when they have to be promoted, but as Rab suggested the protest system has issues.

Bottom line: there are circumstances for any situation, but I trust Walter's decision making ability as our race director. Safety records and consistency are key too, not just lap times and finishes. There will ALWAYS be some overlap between the two groups.

Your argument is flawed, it's like saying I have not been to this track on a track day. So I will bump down to level 2 where the riding is safer. We both know it's not safer.

And yet - I've done that. And felt better about my decision in doing so. Despite being level 3 at TWS, I did several days in level 2 at MSRH before I moved up to level 3.

I don't think you are a liar, I think you believe your explanation. And I think you have looked at it all wrong, and I don't think I am the only one.

Regardless if my view doesn't line up with what your view is - what anyone else's view is - or what the preconceived view is of getting promoted, you stated that the reason (or at least part of it) I stopped racing was because I was bitter about not winning a novice championship - not because of what I had previously posted. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

Does Walter go back and look at experts after they have been experts for a while? Should people that are slow or have slowed down be forced to stay in expert or is there a way for experts to be bumped back down to be with people that are closer in pace?

Sure there will be some overlap but 13 seconds a lap? I'm not saying an expert has to be faster than every novice, just wondering at what point are they too slow?

Can we please get back on the topic of sandbagging expert novices?? If you get promoted, then protest and manage to come from the back to win a race that makes you a sandbagger. And the "not comfortable" running as an expert argument doesn't hold any water. Especially when you get tangled up with the experts in a wave start race. Seems like total comfort to me. It wasn't like there was any yielding/slowing down to let the other novices catch back up...
